What happened to spring? It seems the robins were just passing through and the wild azalea tree was blooming.
Now it’s hot, most of the visiting birds around the lakes at the St Augustine Road Fish Management Area are gone, and by afternoon we’re having to close up the house and turn the air con on.
It is a little cooler in the woods – snails and fiddleheads are out.
At the edge of the woods, the small patch of parrot lilies, Alstroemeria psittacina (a non-native from Brazil), is blooming now and spiders are everywhere.
And a weevil – summer is on its way!
